When a Portrait Tells Too Much of a Story

This portrait was meant to celebrate teamwork.
Celia, the chef, and Sonia, her assistant, came in for a professional portrait — confident, proud, and clearly comfortable working together. The energy was great, the connection was natural… and that’s where the fun part came in.
After the print went out, people started asking if they were a couple.
They’re not 😄
What people were really seeing wasn’t romance — it was trust, familiarity, and years of working side by side. Still, we all had a good laugh, and they decided it was best to do a reprint that focused more clearly on the professional story they wanted the image to tell.
So we reprinted it.
I documented the whole process — from the fresh print, to framing, to delivery (yes, the frame got its own seatbelt… because that’s how we transport memories around here).
At the end of the day, this is why I love what I do. Photography isn’t just about taking a good picture — it’s about listening, adjusting, and making sure people feel represented exactly how they want to be seen.
And sometimes… it’s also about printing a new chapter when a photo sparks a little too much imagination.
