One of my favorite parts about attending Art Night is that every event introduces me to new artists, new stories, and new friendships. This evening wasn't about selling photography—it was about meeting the creative community, documenting the event, and sharing the incredible talent that makes Harlingen's art scene so special.
The evening began with Rio Coffee Company, where Amir and Julissa were serving delicious handcrafted drinks while welcoming customers with warm smiles. From there, I continued walking through the event, photographing artists as they worked, greeted visitors, and shared their passion.
I had the opportunity to visit Herencia Perfumería, where beautiful perfumes and jewelry were on display, and Serenotin Supply, featuring creative artistic pins and keychains. Nearby, Christaly and Christy proudly showcased their handcrafted creations, while Mia & Sofia Joyería Diseño displayed elegant handmade jewelry.
One of the highlights was meeting Edith from Edith Elegant Candles, whose wax artwork transformed candles into beautiful decorative pieces, including detailed skull and rose designs. I also stopped by Beaded, where handmade bead creations added another unique touch to the evening.
Photography was represented as well by Community Comfort Photo Booth, operated by Auriel and Jude. It was great meeting another photographer working with the community and seeing people enjoy quick portraits during the event.
I also enjoyed visiting artists with very different styles. Gretchen, creator of God Loves Me Most, shared beautiful pointillism artwork, while Bernaby.art showcased expressive sketch and illustration work. Kaylee from Type Faces Stationery combined poetry, watercolor, and creativity in a way that invited visitors to participate by having custom poems created on the spot.
Throughout the evening I photographed many artists, including two sisters sharing their artwork together, a talented young artist proudly displaying her creations, and many other exhibitors who helped make Art Night such an enjoyable experience.
One artist who truly stood out to me was Vanessa from Day Dream. We spent time talking about art, emotions, and inspiration. Her paintings carry a deep emotional connection that immediately caught my attention. Before we parted, she surprised me by gifting me one of her paintings —an incredibly meaningful gesture that I will always remember. It was one of those moments that reminds me why I enjoy meeting artists and learning the stories behind their work.
Of course, no Art Night would be complete without great food. Pizzería Longoria was serving outstanding brick-oven style pizza, and watching the pizzas bake inside the oven was almost as enjoyable as tasting them. My wife and I always look forward to stopping by—it's one of our favorite places to eat whenever we're in Harlingen Art Night.
I also visited Creative Humans, whose creative candle designs cleverly resemble popular beverage cans, and Fire Prints by Ward, featuring impressive 3D-printed creations that demonstrated another side of modern craftsmanship.
The evening was filled with wonderful live music, including a beautiful performance inside Modern Vintage.
One of my favorite moments was watching my daughter, Aileen, perform while seeing a young admirer happily following along with her music. Moments like these remind me that Art Night isn't simply about art—it's about bringing families, artists, musicians, and the community together.
By the end of the evening, I had the opportunity to meet and speak with approximately 19 local businesses and artists, handing out around 24 business cards, making new friendships, exchanging ideas, and learning from fellow creatives.
Thank you to everyone who welcomed me into your booths, allowed me to photograph your work, and shared your stories with me. I look forward to seeing many of you again at future Art Night events.
Until next time,
Juan Pablo Gomez
